Project 1001: June 14, 2024; Lost In The Dream by The War on Drugs
Just bit run down here at the moment / And I'm all alone here, living in darkness
Being only vaguely aware of The War on Drugs I listened to Lost in the Dream with eager anticipation. At ten years of age the music here seems fresh and vibrant still. The indie rockers deliver an excellent listening experience. I really enjoyed this record!
My rating:
AllMusic’s review called the album “a near flawless collection of dreamy vibes, shifting moods, and movement.1
Calling Lost in the Dream “a wonderfully cathartic rock record full of depth and emotion” The Guardian ranked it the second-best album of 2014.2
Here’s what else was happening at the time of release (March 18, 2014)
•Happy by Pharell Williams was the number one song.3
•Topping the album charts was Oxymoron by Schoolboy Q.4
•The most-watched show that night was Dancing With The Stars.5
•The box office champ was Mr. Peabody & Sherman.6
•The Chance by Robyn Carr was on top of the best seller list.7
